Visit by the Auditor-General of Kenya

On 28 May 2026, the Auditor-General of Kenya, Her Excellency Nancy Gathungu, visited AGO. She was accompanied by Dr. Leonard Lari, Deputy Auditor-General (Financial Audit Services), and Dr. Elizabeth Kalunda, Chairperson of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.

AG Wai Choong warmly welcomed the delegation, after which both SAIs exchanged insights on their respective mandates and organisational structures, the range of audits conducted, and the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence to enhance audit coverage and identify high-risk transactions. Despite the geographical distance between the two countries, both SAIs noted many similarities in their operations, from supporting parliamentary Public Accounts Committees to collaborating with anti-corruption agencies and commercial crime investigation units when audits uncover potential irregularities.

AGO is glad for the opportunity to exchange views with OAG Kenya as the SAIs work to advance the standards and impact of public sector auditing.
