On 9 July 2026, the Auditor-General of Australia, Dr Caralee McLiesh, visited AGO. She was accompanied by the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) Chief Operating Officer, Ms Sue Goodear.
The delegation was received by AG Wai Choong, CAO Rina and AAG Wai Yee. The meeting began with SAD Erica providing an overview of AGO, covering the various types of audits conducted and the learning and development programmes curated to strengthen capabilities within the organisation. The sharing also included AGO's approach to stakeholder engagement and the measures in place to uphold the quality of its audits.
This was followed by an insightful and meaningful discussion covering a range of topics, including ANAO sharing on how IT audits have evolved to respond to emerging risks, as well as how good practices arising from audit work are identified, defined, and communicated.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both SAIs to exchange perspectives on a broad range of areas and commitment towards elevating audit standards and fostering greater accountability in the public sector.
