AG Lim Soo Ping met AGO staff over tea on 13 February 2007

Auditor-General Lim Soo Ping, delivered his opening speech to AGO staff on 13 February 2007 at the MND Auditorium.

The Auditor-General started with an account of his career in the Civil Service over the past three decades. He highlighted that, despite fundamental changes in Government which have significant impact on financial governance and practices, the role of AGO remains unchanged - i.e. to ensure sound financial governance and controls through independent scrutiny of Government spending.

Mr Lim highlighted the two roles of the Auditor-General: the statutory responsibility in carrying out independent Government audits effectively, and the leadership responsibility in achieving organizational excellence.

The Auditor-General underlined the importance of staff development to optimize the potential of each individual, sharing of ideas, and greater exposure to various engagements.

After the speech, the Auditor-General met with all AGO officers over tea.
